Ford Opus HRF FULL AQUAPLANE Sidevalve Racer MOT'd For Sale (1962)
My 1962 Ford Opus HRF KitCar/HitRod. Approx 225 ever made, only 20 of them had this square chassis and from all the collected information we've gathered there's only about 20 left and this is the only one that's complete and on the road so as you can imagine it's a pretty rare sight!
Fitted with various engines from all ends of the spectrum, this one has a gorgeous clean 100e Sidevalve BUT - this one is packed out with the best of the best in Aquaplane periodic racing equipment inside and out.
- Aquaplane SuperHead & Bolts
- Aquaplane Freeflow exhaust manifold
- Aquaplane twin inlet and twin SU carbs
- Aquaplane oil cooling kit
- Aquaplane racing valves & springs
(I drive a 100e daily and YES the Aquaplane kit makes a huge difference)
Running gear is 105e Anglia apart from front suspension which is sit-up n Beg popular. 4 speed box and she goes well! Carbs could still do with a little tuning fine tuning but once warmed up she's good to go. 4x108 Ford stud pattern all round.
Have spent many hours driving this and I can't help but smile all the way. The looks and attention it gets are incredible and if that wasn't enough the straight through exhaust and mid-sectioned cherrybomb make its sound fantastic too.
Has an early 100e Kidney Dash and electrics that all work spot on. Good oil pressure, working fuel gauge, indicators, push button start - even has a rev counter!
No leaks, squeaks, rattles or bangs this car is genuinely spot on and the most exciting thing I've ever driven to date. What you see is what you get, no illusions and no hidden 'nasties'
Car has been lovingly garaged for a long time but now it's living with me it'll be an outdoors car and regularly in use until someone snaps it up.
This car is NOT a project, it's good it's done it's ready to go MOT'd till November 2017. Full logbook in my name 52,000miles however I don't know if that was just from the dash it's been fitted with...
My personal job list for this car is
- Make the seating better
- Fit a roll bar
- Fit Air horns
- Fit some kind of visor
- Lap belts
- Chop that nasty grille down
No P/X unless it's a genuine 1955 Ford Anglia 3bar grille complete or project...
Car is based in Birmingham - 5 minutes from the NEC
Please no test pilots, you won't be disappointed when you see it.
There's a nice folder of paperwork for the car. Comes with 2 spare gearboxes and will be on a full tank :-)
**Please note - If you would like the car MINUS the engine I'd happily drop the price to £3500**
Car is fully insured and protected agreed value at £5000 and they didn't even need to see it (Footman James)
Thanks for looking
