JAGUAR 4. 2 LITRE ‘E’ TYPE FIXED HEAD COUPE, RHD, 1965
JUST 10, 513 MILES FROM NEW
OPALESCENT SILVER BLUE WITH BEIGE LEATHER INTERIOR
CHASSIS No. 1E. 20940 ENGINE No. 7E. 5838-8
Hexagon Classics are proud to offer possibly the lowest mileage fixed head coupe in existence. The Jaguar E-Type is an iconic British motoring legend; manufactured by Jaguar Cars between 1961 and 1975. It combined sensational looks, high performance and competitive pricing that instantly captured the imagination of the British public at the time and it has remained a motoring icon. On the car’s public release in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it, “the most beautiful car ever made.”
The Jaguar 3. 8 litre ‘E’ Type Series 1 was introduced, initially for export only, in March 1961. The cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted 3. 8 litre six-cylinder Jaguar XK engine from the XK150S. After that, the floors were dished to provide more leg room and the twin hood latches moved to inside the car. The 3. 8 litre engine was increased to 4. 2 litres in October 1964. The first series motorcars can be recognized by glass-covered headlights (up to 1967), small “mouth” opening at the front, signal lights and tail-lights above bumpers and exhaust tips under the number plate in the rear.
In 1965 this Jaguar ‘E’ Type was supplied new to authorized Jaguar Cars’ distributor, Archibald’s Garage, in Christchurch, New Zealand. It had been ordered new for a well-known Jaguar enthusiast and was registered on the 11th of February 1966. Using the car only sparingly, the Jaguar resided with him in Christchurch until his passing, when it was acquired by Hexagon Classics. As New Zealand does not use salt on its roads, the E-Type has remained in wonderful original condition, helping preserve items such as the original factory chromed head bolts and enamelled manifolds.
Our Jaguar has its original certificate of registration (1966), original handbook wallet, original Jaguar operating, maintenance & service handbooks with factory amendments, maintenance voucher book, original factory warranty certificate, Jaguar maintenance chart, original factory tuning & preparation book, original dealer book & JDC drivers club prospectus, original factory supplied tool roll (complete), original factory supplied jack.
The current total mileage of our outstanding Jaguar 4. 2 litre ‘E’ Type Fixed Head Coupe stands at 10, 513 miles and the original condition is quite unrepeatable. This car represents a unique opportunity to purchase one of the lowest mileage motoring icons of the 20th century.
Available to view now at our London showrooms.
