Restored between September 2008 and March 2011 this original UK supplied 'B-Spec' Daimler SP250 Dart has been thoroughly maintained and improved over the last 5 years.
Originally supplied through Northampton Motors in March of 1961, this high spec'd right hand drive SP250 came with the added luxury of chrome over-riders, heater and adjustable steering column! Its engine and chassis number match the production record held at the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
Finished in a metallic Burgundy with matching Wilton carpet and a light tan interior it is in stunning cosmetic condition. During the restoration the fiberglass body was removed from the metal frame chassis which were both comprehensively re-commissioned before the car was built up using new or refurbished mechanical components, a new wiring harness, re-plated chrome and a rebuilt two and a half litre Daimler V8.
The interior benefits from a set of period sports seats (originals trimmed to match the car also supplied) and a Canadian Maple Wood dash.
The rebuilt engine fires instantly and runs with good oil pressure and no overheating issues thanks to a recent new high capacity radiator and Cool 180 waterless coolant. The ignition has been sent to 123 Distributors in Holland who built a bespoke electronic distributor with an adjustable ignition curve which has been programmed to the car. It also benefits from an alternator conversion and high capacity battery.
The gearbox and final drive suit the car well with a rifle bolt style change it comfortably cruses above the legal speed limit making it a very capable long distance cruiser. As such the car runs reliably, often undertaking trips to the continent and around the UK.
The car has recently been fitted with a set of 15 inch chrome wire wheels and new Michelin XAS tyres. These are slightly wider than the original wheels and make for sure-footed handling. The original wheels, tyres and hubcaps will be supplied with the car.
The roof is in matching Burgundy and is in excellent condition. It fits well and keeps all but the hardest downpour out of the car. There is also a tailored indoor cover included.
The body isn't bodyshop fresh - the car has been carefully enjoyed over the last 6 years, but it is in excellent condition, with the exception of a few tiny chips in the gel-coat the paint is as good as you will find on a fiberglass bodied car. The chrome, badges and other fixtures and fittings all complement the quality of the rest of the car.
The Dart has a comprehensive restoration and service history from September 2008 as well as 'before photo's', MOT's, parts and annual service and maintenance bills.
