Built purely as a nostalgia trip for myself, 1973 Honda CB125S, it took 18 years to gather all the correct genuine parts from around the world ! The only original 1973 parts are the frame (to retain Registration No) and the Rear Mudguard (Re-Chromed, due to lack of availability). Yes, only two original parts, the rest are the correct, brand new, genuine Honda parts, even the screws/bolts have the correct markings for year.
The 122cc engine is new, yet again built from new genuine parts, crankcases, head, barrel, crankshaft, gearbox etc. It has only done 158 miles since completion, and will require further "running-in".
It is 100% correct for a 1973 UK model. It even has the correct type NEW Bridgestone tyres, moulded for me though a contact within Bridgestone, and really is as it rolled off the production line.
I cannot stress too highly that this bike needs to be seen to appreciate it.
The bike has been inspected and valued by the VMCC & VJMC for my insurance company to provide the “agreed value”, cover which is in excess of the advertised price, as is the cost of this nostalgia trip, which is in five figures !
It is far superior in “correctness” and quality, than any of the other CB125S's that have been available for a long time.
Why sell it after all that effort ? As with age, nostalgia and health fades, it is a shame for it to sit in it's air-conditioned cocoon and not be used. Currently on SORN, but can be MOT'd prior to collection.
