Description
What we have here is the archetypal English Grand Tourer, It is a 1982 Aston Martin V8 "Oscar India". Our car is finished in the stunning and rare Hereford Brown with Magnolia Hide Piped Brown and has covered 62,000 Miles from new. We have a full service history including the original purchase invoice. Our car benefits from a new 6 Speed Manual Gearbox and conversion to Vantage Look including the correct Ronal Alloys.

The acquisition of Aston Martin by Company Developments in 1972 brought with it a change of name for the V8-engined cars: out went 'DBS V8', in came 'AM V8'. This new Series 2 was readily distinguishable by its re-styled front which now featured two instead of four headlamps and recalled the looks of the earlier DB six-cylinder cars. Electronic ignition and air conditioning were now standard. Introduced in 1973, the Series 3 employed a quartet of Weber 42 DCNF carburettors instead of the previous Bosch mechanical fuel injection, the change, which necessitated a larger bonnet bulge, bringing with it increased torque and smoother running at low speeds. Power output of the standard car was now in excess of 300bhp, and even in automatic transmission form the V8 could reach 100mph in around 16 seconds and better 145mph flat-out.

Known as 'Oscar India' in factory parlance, the Aston Martin V8 Series 4 arrived in October 1978 boasting a revised bonnet and boot lid tail spoiler. The interior became even more opulent, gaining the Volante's wood-embellished fascia together with leather headlining, a restyled centre console and improved air conditioning. The latter was by now standard equipment, as was power-assisted steering, a limited-slip differential, electric window lifts and a heated rear window. Automatic was the standard transmission offering, five-speed manual the option.

Performance Car, testing a V8 Auto, reckoned its makers 'have set out - it has been so for years - to make a car of character, with a chassis of conventional but exceptional ability and manners, with enough performance from its hand-built engine to stand most comparisons and the prestige of English bespoke coachbuilding.'

Our car was supplied new Aston Martin of Sloane Street to the Lowndes Lambert Group Ltd of Eastcheap London for the inclusive price of £40,285.73. The car has been well looked after its whole life as you will see from the comprehensive service history and the 6 Speed gearbox is a pleasure to use. She looks absolutely stunning in her original colour combination and drives perfectly, as you would imagine. The interior leather is very nice although the carpets are a little worn in places. Having had much money spent on it in recent times our car is ready for its new owner, we have priced her to sell and will happily answer any questions you may have.
