1966 Royal Enfield Continental GT 250cc Single With 5 speed For Sale

£4,995 - As stated

1966 Royal Enfield Continental GT 250cc Single With 5 speed gearbox (Engine number GT17654). This iconic British 250 single is beautifully presented. Launched in 1964 and the would be racers still on L Plates had to have one. It sold like hot cakes and for around £250 quid you could have one and it came fully loaded with all the go faster bits. Beautiful red race style fiberglass fuel tank, fly screen, bacon slicers, hump seat, ace bars, swept back exhaust system and rev counter set in a lovely aluminum top yolk. Royal Enfield claimed it to be "Britain's Fastest 250", after John Cooper (Moon Eyes) thrashed it around Silverstone giving a top speed of 73MPH, Yep 73 MPH, no wonder the fly screen was needed! By the late 60's the Land Of The Rising Sun had basically out engineered the UK motorcycle industry, with high revving 125 pocket rockets, multi geared and the then the big multi cylinders that did not throw up oil on your Mum and Dad's drive! So this actual beauty was the bike Royal Enfield Continental GT used for there comparison "Old and New", when in 2013 Royal Enfield launched there new Continental GT at the "Ace Cafe". The video is still on You Tube. Efficiently known as the "Little Red Rooster" so it's got a bit of fame under its belt. As you can see I trust it looks lovely, It starts well and does what it should on the road. It comes with Royal Enfield 2013 launch photographs of this bike, V5C, HPi certificate (clear), REOC dating certificate, dispatched to Missen, Melksham 16/3/1966. Correspondence between owners and associated maintenance invoices. Lovely, lovely period lightweight cafe racer. Delivery and shipping arranged.
