I bought this car in 1988, it was my second Dolly (the first one was white as well), in daily use up to 1990 when I decided to commission a complete mechanical overhaul. Engine has been rebuilt over a new block from a local specialist with the maximum care for details, including piston/conrod assy weight balance and manifold polishing. Many new parts have been installed, supplied by Sprintspeares in Southend on Sea, Essex (a company lately bought by Rimmer Bros). In 1994 the car come back to the road again for daily use, in that period a Motorola phone has been installed. In 1997 purchasing of a new car relegated Dolly in the corner of the garage, and finally in 2000 I sold it to a close friend who's the chairman of the Italian Sprint register, with the promise that if one day he would have put the car on sale he would have offered it to me first. Couple of years ago I casually saw a beautiful Sprint offered through an auction and I felt the desire to buy it, I phoned my friend to ask if he knew anything about that car, he said if you want you can buy back your car as I need to reduce collection. In two days the car was back in my garage. My friend covered 20.000 km with the Sprint, installed sports shock absorbers and lowered springs, K&N filters etc. but I like standard cars so I reverted it back to original specifications. With the occasion I replaced all the suspension bushes, the complete timing chain assy, carried out a total carbs overhaul etc. to have it perfectly running.
Bodywork is totally rust and accident free, vinyl roof and quarter pillars are absolutely perfect, interior is lovely original, no speaker holes on door cards.
