We know this lovely, largely original low mileage Rover P4 100 very well having sold it in 2005, again in December 2014 to one of our regular customers in Essex and later to a long term local customer who has bought over ten classic cars from us over many years. In early 2017 we sold the P4 back to one of the former owners, a regular customer and classic car/bike enthusiast in Essex who wanted to own the Rover again. This is one of those very comfortable cars that is just lovely to own, hence why a former owner had the urgency to buy it back! The car now comes back to us with a collection of bikes and autocycles in exchange for a pre-war Humber. MKS 265 spent nine years in regular summer use from 2005 and has attended shows and rallies across Yorkshire. The Rover covered 4000 faultless miles and on return to us after nine years sold immediately to a regular customer in Essex. After almost one year of enjoying the Rover, it came back to us in part exchange and was used locally covering around 500 faultless miles before coming back to us and heading back to Essex.
MKS 265 has been slowly improved since 2005 and has been treated to various re-chroming work. Mechanically the Rover has been superbly maintained and has proved completely reliable. The car has had various ignition items replaced, a new water pump and a new speedo cable. During the 1990's the Rover was with one owner in West Yorkshire and receipts are with the car for new hoses, thermostat housing, de-coke head gasket set, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, calipers and pistons, brake discs, brake pads and new brake pipes. Between 1961 and 1991 the Rover had just two owners and was in very careful ownership, hence today's wonderful original condition.
Our Rover retains wonderful original upholstery. The leather seats are in lovely condition and have been preserved and regularly fed with leather treatment. The carpets are still the cars original set and can be replaced if required, particularly the passenger front carpet. Woodwork is superb, door cards are excellent and the headlining is very good. The original tool kit and pedal rubbers are still in place, this a a real time warp. The Rover also presents superbly on the exterior and was treated to a full professional external re-paint in 2014. The panels are excellent and straight, the paint finish is of a very high quality and the underside is structurally excellent and protected with black waxoyl. The engine bay is very clean and well presented, as is the boot area with original mat and side panels.
On the road MKS 265 is as you would expect with just 62,000 miles from new. The engine is very quiet and runs perfectly. The car starts instantly, is strong, powerful and smooth. The gear changes are excellent and first gear is very quiet. The brakes are sharp, the car steers and handles incredibly well and performance is impressive with a working overdrive. The Rover is ready to use and enjoy and is one of the most original, best driving P4 examples we have had.
